| At age 5, although it was against Turkish law, my father sent me to a Catholic missionary kindergarten in Izmir Turkey. I was not the only Jewish kid there and there was also a Muslim the son of a medical doctor. In 2 years I learned to speak French. Neither I nor the others converted into Catholicism and I am almost 60 years old. It looks like it is a matter of family upbringing that matters. The Pope can make prayers as he wishes, those who have a strong family tradition will never convert. And it is these religious, cultural and traditional differences that makes this world more interesting and worthwhile to discover, why convert everyone to the same culture? Vive la difference. |
