| Roman Rabinovich: unfair criticism! It`s true the Appassionata was banal, but no one young competitor should have even touched Beethoven! Certainly not at the age of 22. Any music teacher worth his name knows that. BUT, Roman showed TALENT, wonderful musicianship. He played a masterly Alban Berg sonata opus 1 and I hope you know how wonderful this sonata is. Roman gave it an extraordinary rendition. Everything else he played was also superlative. Technically, and again, musically. And while virtuosity is today widespread, talent, real big talent, is and will forever be, extremely rare. |
