Talking to my friend in Haifa, mostly Christians, I got the feelings that upon hearing the news about the Latin Patriach Michel Sabbah`s retirement: they wished him well and some of the French speaking compatriots said "Bon debarrat".I do agree as they explain, that a new era of communal friendly environment going to set on Israel multi-religious population. He might have been a novelty, being the first Palistinian Latin Patriach, the excitment and the pride subsided long ago, due to the one sided attitude of Michel Sabbah. I have the feeling that whoever will take over the Patriachi, will try and establish new rapports with the Jewish State: and the Christian Communities in Israel have been exploded, with the big flow of Russians (yes they are Orthodoxe, I know, but Christians), and the prosperity that the Communities are going through the last decinnies, is just remarkable, and nothing will jeorpadize those achievements, even with Latin Patriach Michel Sabbah`s lack of equilibrium between the Jewish State and the PA. |
