Shahar Ilan, Haaretz Correspondent: Sephardic Chief Rabbi comes under fire over conversions
Talkback
Title:Who can convert?

There is only one good reason to convert and that is because you sincerely and with all your heart believe that Judaism is the true religion.
And yes, it is a RELIGION and it does have rules to keep. If a person isn`t interested in keeping the rules they don`t have to become Jewish. They won`t be dammed to hell(like some other religions believe) so they don`t have to convert. Secular ministers in the government don`t get to decide who can convert. Only rabbis can do that. And the frabbis are looking for sincerity.
