| The United States is right to encourage serious steps that would make an agreement in 2008 between Israel and the Palestinians a reality. A final status agreement would not only guarantee Israel`s Jewish democratic future, but would also enhance its diplomatic and economic relationships with the rest of the Arab countries. The Arab League`s proposal stipulates this expected commitment once the Palestinian issue is addressed and resolved fairly based on borders of 1967. Another issue for consideration for Israel is that Shas and the religious parties must be reminded that the establishment of modern Israel in 1948, was predominantly nationalistic and Jewish-security oriented which superceded our religious doctrines and motivations (ie. Greater Israel), as a people - although Judaism comes part and parcel with the state of Israel. This is a good thought for reflection. |
