| Culture is more important than blood anyway. If there is a genetic Arab People, let alone a genetic Palestinian people, why is there such diversity? Why are some Palestinians dark black and others are redheads? Why are there blond pale skinned Palestinians? Zand is trying to sell books, as is Tom Segev. The bottom line is that not all Jews are 100% descendents of Jacob, but that claim of no homogeneity can be thrown at every single ethnic group around. The main fault with Zand`s argument as with many other new historians isn`t so much the validity of their claims ,but rather the lack of evenhandedness concerning the Arabs. If assimilation of other groups into the Jewish people cancels the existence of the Jewish people, then assimilation of Iraqis, Syrians, Egyptians and dare I say, crusaders, would erase the existence of the Palestinian people.
