Meirav Arlosoroff, TheMarker Correspondent: Treasury finally admits: Israel facing economic slowdown
Talkback
Title:Leaving US Job for work in Israel / Europe
Name:SB
City: DaytonState: OH
Two years ago, I was laid off from a middle management position with an Israeli company which paid 25K NIS a month plus benefits. Within a month I was offered work with a company in Dayton, Ohio and currently earn approximately $100,000 a year. The cost of travel, temporary housing, a car lease and worst of all - not seeing my family back in Israel for often weeks at a time was offset by the ability to save and send money home. When the shekel to dollar exchange rate was 4.6, it all made sense. I thought about relocating my family to the US but the cost of living here for someone self employed who has 3 kids in Jewish day schools is just astronomical. I have slowly shifted my client base back to Israel and Europe and will return to Israel permanently next month.
