| The problem with Meretz`s political path is that the Palestinians don`t go along it.Let`s face it. Gaza is ruled by Hamas whose charter calls for the destruction of Israel. The West Bank is ruled by Fatah, part of which is talking to Ehud Olmert about peace, and part of which (the El Aksa Brigades) actively seeks the destruction of Israel. Thus, though there are undeniably many Palestinians who want to live in peace with us, their own cards are stacked tall against it. Thank God that the Israeli public, except some Meretz leaders, understands this also undeniable picture. As long as there are lots of Palestinian armed gangs, including a naisent Hamas army, dedicated to our destruction, peace with the Palestinians is a chimera. Open your eyes Meretz and Uzi B.! |
