"Gaza is not Stalingrad."
Israel will be tempted to suppress Hamas resistance in Gaza City by extensive use of artillery and airpower.
The resulting rubble will make it impossible for their armour to move around and will require unsupported infantry to fight street by street and house by house (exactly as the Germans discovered in Stalingrad).
The IDF are not equipped for this sort of fighting and would suffer massive losses against trained Palestinian fighters who are thirsting for revenge and are prepared to die for their cause.
The IDF infantry would certainly rather be back home watching their wide-screen televisions. |
