If, as Amir Mahoul fears, the majority of Jerusalem Israelis countenence an attack against Israeli Arab Leaders, then the point would have been reached where, as explained by both Gandhi himself and Desmond Tutu about the way non-violence can be effective, Palestinians would have sucessfully caused the Israeli Government to hike up its atrocities beyond the critical level where a sizeable enough proportion of its won population would turn against its barbaric methods. And the end would be nigh.
The lesson is that both Israel and Hamas must now show restraint and go back to the negotiation table with a transparent plan to build confidence. If either side is blind enough to breach the critical line of most intolerable level of atrocity, its own population will turn against it and it wil be the end.
Clearly, Hamas is further away from ITS critical line than is Israel.
