| If Jesus really existed in reality, which is yet a matter of speculation in history, he might have been a Jew. According to the Gospel he was, indeed. But the division between Jews, Christians, and the other sects of Judaism occurred later on, and most probably not at the time of their appearance in history. For instance, Karaism was first a Jewish sect, and then a religion by itself, when their direct interpretation of the Bible was not accepted by certain dominant Rabbis. For the Romans, Christians and Jews were not that difference before Constantine. |
