| If somebody who is marrying outside the faith chooses to have a Jewish ceremony, they are making a declaration to their spouse that they are staying Jewish, and their spouse is foregoing a cleric of their own faith and acquiescing. THEY HAVE MADE THEIR DEAL and declared their intention to be a primarily Jewish family when the kids are born. So it is not the CEREMONY which "causes" them to live as a Jewish family, because they have already made their deal. The Jewish ceremony is a declaration to the families of what the deal is they already made. |
