"This visit is a victory for Israel and a defeat for Israel haters." Yes. But it is a victory for Germany and for Humanity as well. No other nation has worked so long and hard to remove the terrible stain of anti-Semitism. I salute the German people and their leader, Dr Merkel. Germany has shown it is possible for us all to overcome far more than just "was die Mode streng geteilt". And for those who gleefully point out the growing Jewish population of Germany somehow as proof of the failure of Aliyah - both nations are gaining Jews, who show a marked preference for open, liberal and tolerant societies. Or, to paraphrase a television commercial here in America: Got Jews? MV
