The article confuses correlation with causation.

Sort of like saying that being married by a Priest "causes" them to live as Catholics.

Being married by a Rabbi does not in any way affect the chances of, much less cause, living as Jews. Rather, the desire to maintain Jewish identity both (a) makes them likely to be married by a Rabbi and (b) makes them likely to live as Jews.
