I see a big difference between the Israeli Arabs and the Haredi. The former is subject to a ban, the latter to an exemption. Israeli Arabs cannot serve even if they want to. Haredi can serve, but may decline.

As for medical exemptions, again, these are based on ability, not preference. Presumably one has a medical exemption because the IDF has determined that person is not fit to serve. Haredi, on the other hand, get their exemption regardless of their ability.

As for soccer players, I agree with you and see no difference between them and the Haredi. Of course, there aren`t enough soccer players to disenfranchise that would affect election results. On the other hand, disenfranchising the Haredi would affect Israeli election results. And for the better.
