What the Rebbe Yoel of Satmar would have said is easily dicerable. After the 6-Day war he condemned the Zionists as instigators, but he also condemned the Neturei Karta for siding with the Arabs, in his famous "parshat nasoh" speech.
He cried over the dead even of the Israeli Army because as he stated in that speech "A Jew while alive we can always hope he will realize the truth"
It is shocking for a paper like you not to truly invetigate and present well known and widely availble marterial of what the Old Satmar Rebbe held.
The Satmar Rebbe would have given away his last shirt and dry crumb of bread to any Zionist Jew in dire need. His fight was of ideology not of personal hate. |
