| Benziman is wrong. Israel`s leaders are not "helpless," they are "spineless." If Olmert and Barak were true leaders they would act aggressively to make peace and forget about Shas and the settlers. To be sure, the coalition would collapse. But, a new coalition could be formed...one truly committed to a two-state solution, to dividing Jerusalem, and to ending settlement activity. What Israel needs is a left led government that is serious about peace. Olmert and Barak are not "helpless." They simply lack the political and moral courage to do what is necessary. |
