Current Israeli leaders are not modern but post-modern. They are not guided by ideals, guts, visions and courageous moves; nor are they quinetssentially Jewish, -Mishpoche / Hamoule- ("family") as Ben Gurion or Golda Meir were.
Post modern Israeli leaders are complex, mediatic, focused on the microscoping wording of the day`s issue to manouvre the murky waters of maintenance. They are the failed administrators of chronical conflicts, and don`t aspire to more.
So, in a slip, they can even say "if a Palestinian state is not created, Israel is finished".
Ben Gurion was able to fight against all odds and succeed in breaking the siege on Jerusalem in 1948, diffuse successfuly the Altalena crack in the early statehood, and have an inconmensurable, mystical hope in what Israel is capable, what the Jewish heart and mind can achieve.
That is lost. New "kings" are holograms, or rather, hollowgrams.
