This is of course not about housing, but about ethnic jerrymandering of Jerusalem. If not, why wouldn`t the Israeli gov just build new houses on its own territory? Of course these settlements are illegal, but since the U.S. sheilds Israel from international law, there is little reason to hope that thet can be stopped.
So, why don`t the Palestinians just buy the new houses and live in them? East Jerusalem is clearly the Arab side of the city. Is there some sort of apartheid law that prohibits Arabs from buying these houses in their own capital city? They should just turn this Jewish settlement into a new (and badly needed) Arab settlement. The Arabs in the gulf could finance the purchases, and it would all end up helping develop Arab East Jerusalem.
