while the action taken by the idf officer is commendable; i`m not certain that the actions of the police officers were any less than might be expected.
of course...i base my thoughts on the role of the police in the u.s.; who are NOT "obligated" to risk their lives to save someone elses...lol...which is a little known fact. so if the same is true in israel, then the officers who opted not to enter were acting within reason. hindsight is perfect...and of course they`ll bear a flood of disdain...yet most of hose who wag their fingers in accusation...would have done the same. even most idf soldiers would be apt to hesitate...not knowing what they faced.
which makes shapira`s act one worthy of praise. |
