What lesson is Israel trying to teach the Pals?
Well, given that the construction in question was originally halted years ago because of ongoing violence, and seeing that it is now being renewed because of the relative calm in that part of the West Bank, it appears that the message sent by Israel to the Pals is that they must begin a new intifada to halt the construction.
Israel has NEVER made concessions to the Pals except for when ongoing Pal resistance has made the price of standing firm too painful for Israelis to bear. Unless it hurts, Israel has no reason to budge.
The question now becomes, just how painful are the Pals prepared to make things for Israel? The relative calm of the last few years in the West Bank has earned the pals absolutely nothing. They may as well take up the gun in numbers again. |
