The Knesset has been working on a draft constitution for a number of years and there is some hope for it to move forward. It is important that Israelis push for this as much as possible.

As to religious supremacy being the law of the land - only is certain issues. There are still many laws that are from British and even Turkish law but you are correct that there needs to be some separation of religion from government. This is a very difficult issue here and I think it is unique in the World.

Add to that the fact that Israel has been at war with her neighbors (and to some extant with some of it`s people) and you have a tricky situation here. It becomes easy to focus on just security but Israelis need to keep pushing the Constitution idea until we have one. There are too many people who want to see this country ruled by a cabal of religious fanatics who have little respect for pluralism and civil rights.
