| There are a number of severe problems which will work to prevent any peace. The most immediate problem is that Israel is not about to withdraw from the west bank. Since this is part of every possible peace treaty, then Israel will work to avoid peace. Even if Israel were motivated to make a peace, there are a certain number of people on both sides who will work to sabotage peace. There are a much larger number of people on both sides who will renege on a peace at the first sign of trouble. The actions of these people will certainly preclude any peace. Peace will much more likely be a result of a devestating war, which will take the starch out of many of the warmongers. War is only popular when your side is winning and incurring no casualties. The best argument for peace is for both sides to posess devestating weapons. Currently, only Israel has such weapons. |
