Meretz will serve as our peace party when it starts acting like one.
Where are Haim Ramon, Yossi Beilin, Shulamit Aloni, Haim Oron, in the Knesset voicing loud objection to the continued building in East Jerusalem? Where are they in urging for the need for support of residents of the periphery instead of widening the pipeline of money and resources flowing into the territories? Where are they in the struggle to recognize the unrecognized Becouin villages of the Negev and in promoting the needs of the minorities? Where are they in demanding the government start carrying out its committments made in Annapolis? Where are they in condemning the killing of civilians in Gaza and promoting a more viable solution of talking to Hamas?
If Meretz wants support of the young people it has to work for it. These are good people, but they have not done enough. |
