| Mr Propper de Callejon deserves this tribute. We are glad that Yad Vashem was flexible enough to ignore this time the Jewish origins of this savior (his father was Jewish). In fact, our Foundation has paid tribute to this remarkable hero in a moving ceremony which took place in 2006, at the Cervantes Institute in New York. One of the key lessons of the Holocaust is epitomized by the corageous lives of thousands of women and men who didn`t hesitate to risk their own lives in order to save others. Raoul Wallenberg, is the most prominent of all saviours, but he was certainly not alone. Spanish diplomats such as Propper de Callejon, had made their contribution to the saving effort which went beyond the physical act of rescuing victims. In fact, they saved human dignity.
