"Oz stated that the greatest challenge facing the left wing is convincing the public that there is a direct link between the occupation and poverty in Israel."
Sorry, Amos, but Starkist wants tuna that tastes good.
For those not familiar with the old Starkist tuna commercials, I`ll explain.
The Israeli public doesn`t want a Left Wing that looks good, they want a Left Wing that has something good to offer. Right now, the Left has nothing to offer in the ongoing war with the Palestinians.
The greatest challenge facing the Left is to rid itself of the obsession with the term "occupation" and realize that it is indeed war.
The Palestinians say that Tel Aviv is occupied Palestine. Until Amos Oz and the Left come to terms with that, they`ll not only repeat their dismal showing at the election time, but they`ll continue to fade away into obscurity.
