"A subsequent UN investigation found that a total of 52 Palestinians had been killed during the clashes, most of them armed militants. Twenty-three IDF soldiers were also killed in the fighting."
Ah, but you see the difference is that the IDF soldiers were killed while part of a force occupying Palestine. The Palestinian soldiers (which you call "militants") were killed while defending Palestine from occupation. I know that`s a hard distinction for Israelis to keep hold of, but still, it`s pretty important.
Alas, Bakri`s documentary came out amid the confusion of the assault, and did not have the chance to record its full savagery: a Red Crescent nurse shot down in the street and left to die; Kemal Zgheir, a 57-year-old handicapped man, shot down in his wheelchair, before a tank rolled over him; a mentally-challenged man crushed in his bulldozed house; Palestinian soldiers executed after capture. I would like to see the movie Bakri would make now; but Israel wouldn`t. |
