He is absulutly right. Where ever you go Israelies don`t really know who they are. They disowned their religion and while in other countries they are a group that has a problem finding what to teach their kids. It is so clear in the Gola, how exactly are you teaching your child to be an Israeli? you feed them Falefel? feed them humus? tell them about Beitar? The problem begun in Israel, where we all forgot that there is no such thing as an "Israeli" identity! We are jewish people who know nothing about it, we learned "who said to whom" but didn`t learn nothing interesting or what it means to be jewish. We lost our identity, we are jewish and than Israelies, or some of us are Arabs and than Israelies.
I hope maybe one day our education system will open its arms back to what is important - learning about what we are should be a part of our education . I live in NJ and seeing what they teach kids about the US you find how redicouls we are in terms of what and how we teach our kids |
