OK, humor me. I see the assertion that the information in the Zand book has been disproven. By whom? Please understand that assertions are NOT arguments.
I find the Segev/Zand argument persuasive. Then again I don`t have this paranoid, narcissistic fetish of needing to be more special or entitled than other people. I don`t rely on my race or religion to justify my country`s indefensible actions. Neither do I use my DNA as my "get out of accountability free" card.
Every time I visit Haaretz I read comments from Jewish people flipping out over the suggestion that they are are normal. I`m baffled by these knee jerk reactions because "Chosen People" does not equate to genetically superior or even genetically distinct. In the Torah YWH doesn`t dwell on Abraham`s DNA; rather, he emphasizes beliefs and behaviors, i.e., the 10 Commandments. |
