| Mr Lightman appears to be misquoting the Beth Din in a very transparent manner. What connection does Mrs Lightman`s sincerity have with his being a Cohen? If her conversions was legal at the time it is forever binding. If she later marries a Cohen, she has done something wrong (he`s done some even worse, though) but that does not in any way affect her status as a sincere convert. Even the brains of Haaretz should be able to figure that out. Moreover - the one daughter mentioned is barely affected by the misdemeanours of the parents (a son would be in a slightly more problematic position) so what`s the big deal? There must be something else in the story that has not been mentioned. |
