| `Evacuating` or `dismantling` these so called `settlements` fools no-one - it is meaningless and symbolic, because the 26 sites are either empty or have a container or shed with a few squattoers to attract IDF protection. It`s like the IRA a few years ago who said they`d `de-commission a weopons cache` when in fact they merely surrendered a budnle of rusting barrels and old guns so decrepit they were beyind use anyway. A more substantially constructive compliance with the Road Map would be to dismantle the huge nlocs deliberately being built to cut off East Jerusalem from the rest of the WB. Such a step would show just how serious the Knesset and Dayan`s land-grabbers really were about wanting peace. Which of course sadly they are not really interested in at all and it is anyway too rsiky for Olmert to embark on as it would bring down his shaky coalition. How about a UN Peacekeeping Force to extend from the Shaba Farms, down the Green Line to Yatta and beyond. |
