If a Cohen marries a convert the penalty is on the Cohen, not the convert. The Lightman case has genuine merit because she had an Orthodox conversion and lives an observant Jewish life. If non-Orthodox converts are genuine they can apply to the Chief Rabbi`s Beth Din for an Orthodox conversion. |
