The Associated Press: Study: Gaza humanitarian situation worst since 1967

Gerald Steinberg claims that these NGOs are making a mockery of international law. If this is the sort of twisted logic and disinformation that the Palestinians have had to face whenever they report the facts, no wonder they feel aggrieved. Let?s see the evidence Mr Steinberg.

In the meantime, I will present you Mr Steinberg with just one example of Israel?s multiple and systematic violations of international law. For four years, from 1988 to 1992, Israel closed down all Palestinian schools, colleges and universities in the West Bank and Gaza, including all kindergartens as well. This massive assault on civil liberties almost defies belief. It was in effect collective punishment for the Palestinian people?s support for the First Intifada, an uprising which demanded self-determination for the Palestinians, a right that also forms the bedrock to all human rights.

This assault on Palestinian education was a violation of Article 13 of the ICESCR, a document that is part of international law. It was an attempt to undermine Palestinian efforts to govern themselves, also a violation of international law.

Israel lives by its own rules in its determination to evict the Palestinians. It is a state that claims a unique position, a position above the law. Sorry Mr Steinberg but you are about to be disabused of that idea.
