| Clique: Hamas iitself remains an equal-opportunity victimizer; for Israel the problem with a truce is that Hamas traditionally raises the demand that this truce cover its infrastructure in West Bank, an additional strategic hurdle for Olmert who is not the most innovative tactician in any event, so Israel will continue its policy of avoiding large-scale offensive with all that entails (reoccupation, reimposition of military-civilian administration) while continuing its seige (that does however permit periodic infusion of foodstuffs) and incursions/rocket retaliation: the siege, moreover is supported by Egypt for the moment. |
