| Israel and the US claim Abbas is an acceptable partner for talks. But they don`t give him anything to work with. Ofcourse now all eyes are on Gaza, but on the Westbank the raids, closures and the building of the wall and the building in the settlements continue. The moment news came out that PA policemen were doing a fairly decent job in Nablus the IDF got in and closed off the town for a few days for new kill/arrest campaigns. So Abbas has really nothting to gain from talks. He might gain some respect if the stands up more for his own people be they on the Westbank or in Gaza. |
