At the request of my wife (the democrat) this former republican, now independent, crossed the line and underwent the strange experience of voting in a democrat primary. Moreover she wanted me to go to the Precinct Convention and Caucuses last night.
My observations of the caucuses at the 0256 precinct caucuses at the Sutton Elementary School auditorium are limited to that place, and contrasted to years of attending republican precinct conventions.
We met neighbors there, several of whom had been democrat precinct chairmen in the 0256.
The turnout was astounding, to myself used to modest republican precinct conventions, and to the long-time democrat precinct convention attendees.
The convention was delayed for hours because of long lines waiting to vote, and when it was over a couple of hundred people had stayed, or returned, to attend the caucuses to secure the precinct`s delegates for their choice.
The turnout of older democrats went for Hillary and the Obama crowd was younger. |
