| Typically, there are conflicting opinions on who constitutes being a Jew and the number of Jews, whether in the US or Russia. The US Jewish population is thought to be about 4.7m in one study. Other studies show it about 5.5 to 6.2m. Some go further and give the number of people with "Jewish blood" at 20m in the US. First, determine how many Jews there are in Russia and the Ukraine..( using a viable definition of who and what is a Jew ). Russia should not be competing with the world for talented Jews..but also not exclude them. The majority of Jews live in Israel, which, however, is not preferred by everyone. All Jews should be considered assets...whether in Israel, Russia or the Diaspora. Events will dictate further immigrations in my opinion. Anti-Semitism is always just beneath the surface, whether in Russia or Germany, for that matter. Only in Israel can Jews defend themselves. Perhaps Russian Jews need to emulate the Russian non-Jews, and have tents set up for loving couples.. |
