`"The German astrologers must pray that enemy action does not force the Fuehrer into making important decisions within the first eight days of the month (of July), as this would lead to great disaster." `
Us military history buffs can`t help noticing that it was on July 4, 1943, that the Germans launched `Operation Citadel` -- the disastrous armored attack that decimated Germany`s panzer forces and decisively altered the balance of forces on the Eastern Front.
It was arguably the worst single decision Hitler made in the war. Moreover, right up until the last minute, he was very uneasy about it. He definitely jumped the wrong way.
Offhand, if this was the astrologer`s worst pick, he must have been pretty good. |
