| That`s what Al Jazeera`s quoting. Obviously some of the `children` might have been old enough to be militants, but they don`t quote figures for adult male civilians so that could make the civilian total much larger. I don`t know if B`Tselem`s 50 per cent civilians is correct, but I`d be amazed if among all the chaos and carnage that the Chief of Staff`s 90 per cent was correct. It sounds like a figure that he knew Israeli supporters and America would accept without worry, and he hoped that if he shouted it first and loudest it would become accepted. |
