| Schindler is another ill-chosen example, because it shows that there was a very small German minority which remained human. There is actually a tendency in Germany to transform Germans from perpetrators to victims of the Nazi era. After the old Nazi guard had a comfortable life in post-war Germany because they were never challenged, with fat pensions for former SS-men and even war criminals, Germans have chosen to follow the path shown by Austria. The crimes were perpetrated by so called Nazis, never by the parents or the grand parents who were never questioned. And these were victims of the war, see Dresden and the millions of refugees.
