| They are neither from Mea Shearim nor from North Tel Aviv. They do not come from Bnei Brak or Haifa. They don`t live in Boro Park or Willamsburg or 5th Avenue or Philadephia But they can learn a sugya in Halacha together with their buddies in the Chavruta and they operate one of the finest Pick and Rolls in the Rocky Mountain area. They know the difference between MidiOraita and MidiRabanan and how to beat a zone or a trapping defense. If they were living in Israel (where they belong), they would be learning and playing and also making the difficult decision about which Kravi unit they`ll serve in after high school - just like their school-mates in the Tichonim Datiyim. That`s right - some of them take their nationalism to an extreme. But, if I have to make a choice between them and those who reject everything - I prefer to sit on their bench. |
