Not only is Katsav charged with sexual offenses, but he is also charged with harassing a witness - this surely shows the man`s moral level - this is an event that occurred AFTER the sexual offenses took place, and after they became known. Consequently it shows an even higher degree of arrogance and feeling that he was above the law. It seems to me that this particular charge shows how he expected that his position would protect him, making him all the more culpable and making it all the more necessary that his litany of offenses be regarded as moral turpitude with all the consequent loss of benefits, and pension rights. While not wishing to dertract from the seriousness of his sexual offenses, this latter offense is an offense against the rule of law, and this from someone who was the seeming head of the legal pyramid, granted the right to pardon criminals. |
