| I cannot understand why if Israel is opposed to a nuclear free Middle East and they themselves solely make that dream an impossibility, why are they so surprised that others see a need to develop a deterrent (M.A.D) to the threat of Israeli aggression for their own national security. Israel clearly proves routinely that it has no respect for the sovereignty and rights of other nations, so the leaders of neighboring countries would be derelict in their duty to protect their citizens if they failed to develop their own nuclear weapons in light of the Israeli threat. Of course Israel could sign the NPT, dismantle its arsenal and join others in eliminating nuclear weapons instead of proliferating them, but I seriously doubt that peaceful coexistance is their goal. |
