I concur with Martijn Cohen. I have had the occasion to train numerous Iranian professionals in transportation planning. I have never hidden my Israeli background, and they have always been extremely hospitable- even those who are more `islamist` (one can gauge their politics by the way they refer to the country: `Islamic Republic of Iran` is the official name).
Iran is an extremely large and diverse country whose citizens are first and foremost interested in what is best for them! I don`t think that many people consider starting a war with some distant country (Israel) a good proposition. Furthermore, the Iranians (or Persians) are rather anti-Arab, just like the Turks. So in that sense they already have something in common with Israel. |
