| "The current government of Israel, and no conceivable government of the future, will accept a peace agreement based upon the road map. If the Palestinians want peace, then they should cease to exist. There can be no peace with any Palestine left in existence." I think we can agree that the only peace the Israelis want is the peace that follows the unconditional surrender of an enemy. This clearly won`t happen as long as there are Palestinians alive with a dream of their own viable state. So what we are left with is endless grumbling warfare. With its larger policy of territorial expansion still firmly in place, Israel seems to find this acceptable. What Israel fails to see is that times are changing. If it could look up from its own backyard it would see that the forces of Islamic extremism are gathering and increasing in strength all round it. The past will not continue into the future for Israel. This is an Israeli delusion. The future for Israel is bleak. |
