"The only threat to Asia is the cutting off of oil supplies from the Gulf if Israel decides to unilaterally attack Iran hoping that the world community will not sit by and watch iran give Israel the news. Olmert is probably mad enough to take the gamble."
The probability of Israel attacking Iran by itself is, I feel, very low, Chris. The logistics of such an attack would be a nightmare for Israel`s planners, and they don`t have the planes or the bombloads to do more than nibble at Iran`s nuclear programme. The consequences for this unilateral act of aggression would be devastating for Israel - whichever target(s) Iran goes for - Dimona, the oil refineries, civilian targets - it would be a nightmare. And this is to say nothing of possible Iranian attacks on the West`s oil jugular. I can`t imagine ANY wargame that would produce a positive outcome for Israel. |
