Turkey gave the Kurds of northern Iraq refuge from Saddam, it provided the logisital support without which the No Fly Zones would not have been possible, and it helped broker peace between the warring Barzani and Talabani.

The first thing the Iraqi Kurds did when the US invasion gave them the freedom to (yes, the Kurds owe the US, not vice versa - the idea that the Kurds `helped` when all they were doing was taking part in an action that would secure themselves a homeland is a joke) was to host PKK terrorists and afford them so much freedom that called off the 5 year ceasefire and started cross border attacks on an almost daily basis - with such openness that they would even hold press conferences to gloat about it. And before we start spouting nonsense about the `freedom fighting` credentials of the PKK, lets bear two things in mind;

1) the vast majority of their civilian victims have been Kurds

2) More Turkish Kurds (even in the SE) vote for the government than DTP (PKKs part
