"Confessions" extracted under torture don`t mean much.
Toaff a while back said that there was circumstantial evidence within the supposed confessions that made them seem realer to him.
There`s also circumstantial evidence in reports of space aliens in Area 47 in Roswell.
The Vatican in 1400 knew Jewish ritual in complete detail. Not a few Jewish apostates became priests, like Pablo Cristiani, who`d debated Nachmanides about two centuries earlier. So a report from a Dominican inquisitor could easily be dressed up with boilerplate to make it seem more credible.
What`s interesting, from Po`s earlier book on the incident, is how other priests tried -- but failed -- to block the inquisition. |
