Stepping out of the square of long-held beliefs is the most difficult task we all face, Millie.
Sometimes we are aided by horrific events that force us to rethink, to reconsider.
For me this was the deliberate dropping by Israel in 2002 of a 1-tonne bomb on a Gaza apartment complex, known to be packed with innocent civilians. The aim was to kill one old Palestinian leader.
For me the scales fell away from my eyes at once and I clearly saw, for the first time, Israel for the criminal entity it undoubtedly is. This view has never changed over the intervening years, rather it has been constantly reinforced by events. |
