I seems to me that we don`t have to look any further than the Christian institution of "the host". The idea of actually eating Jesus (the wafer becomes his flesh by transubstantiation in their mouths), and drinking his blood (Eucharist wine), obviously produced a terrible guilt formation in many for whom this strange concept was too much to handle.
So Freudian transference kicks in: blame the Jews -- *they* are the cannibals because *they* use Christian baby (Jesus) blood in *their* wafers, the matzot. |
